The End of Lent
I just wanted to say that I did make it through all of Lent with only missing my devos once. On Good Friday, it was 12:35am by the time I remembered to do my devotions for the day. They didn't get put up on my blog until now because I was away and didn't have very good internet access. Anyway, here are the missing devos. Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!
Day 38

Day 38

Day 39
Scripture: Luke 6:20-26
Teacher
Jesus, your teachings are so wonderful.
They would create a great
and mighty nation under you
if only we would let them.
Please help us to understand
your teachings and give
us the courage to carry
them out in your name.
Amen.
Day 40
Scripture: Psalm 51
Haiku Happy
Procrastination
I just can't make myself go
Get me going, God!
You know that is one of
the things I struggle
with most, God.
Thank you for helping
me and please help me
do better in the future.
Palm Sunday
Scripture: Mark 11
Pay Attention
Saving God, give me courage
to be wholly attentive.
Not just this week when all
eyes are on you and the
cross, but always.
Let my eyes see the
truth around me.
Let my ears hear the
cries of your people,
young and old.
Let my mouth speak your
peace and good works.
Let my hands build, help,
and hold in your
glorious name.
Let me be attentive, God, to your people.
Now and always.
Amen.
Monday
Scripture: Psalm 148
Nature
What is nature when you're in a city?
A patch of ground fenced in with a tree in it.
The smell of a woodfire wafting from a bbq joint.
A potted plant in an apartment window.
I praise you God for large forests
and potted ferns alike.
For lions in the wild and house
cats in one bedroom apartments.
All are your creation and I praise you for them all.
Tuesday
Scripture: Jeremiah 31:2-13
Tired Joy
This is what it looks like to
have tired joy. Not that the
joy is tired, but that I am.
But I am still joyful. Very joyful.
I'm tired but I'm happy
and I don't feel like
complaining about it.
Thank you for joy. And sleep.
Wednesday
Scripture: John 11:1-44
Feel Everything
I feel everything.
I may try to hide it,
but I feel it.
Thank you for not
making me hide it
from you, for being
the one "person" I
CAN'T hide it from.
Thank you for giving
me all these emotions,
seeing me go through
them, and loving
me anyway.
Maundy Thursday
Scripture: Psalm 56
Grace
Be gracious to me, O God,
when I am not
gracious to others.
Teach me. Use me.
Mold me.
I'm sorry to disappoint,
but I am learning.
Please never cease teaching.
Good Friday
Scripture: Mark 15:33-34
I Forgot
How tragically ironic that
today was the one day
out of all of Lent
so far, that I forgot to
write.
I'm sorry that, in the
end, I am just like
everyone else.
But you aren't forgotten
and you don't forget me.
With love, Rachel.
Holy Saturday
Scripture: 1 Kings 19:11-13
Wait
Today, I wait to meet
you on your terms
in your space. Amen.
Easter Sunday
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:19-20
We Can
Yes, God, we can
through you!
Amen!
And that's that. That's all she wrote...or I wrote at least. Now I go back to not doing anything...that just sounds sad. Guess it's time for me to find a new adventure to travel on with Papa God! Thanks for playing!
Hearts & Hugs,
Rachel
