Suddenly independently wealthy


If you were suddenly independently wealthy, how would you spend your time? What positive change would you bring to the world?

I would spend my time writing and promoting literacy in children and adults. When you teach someone to read, it's a gift that keeps on giving. I cannot imagine what it would be like to go through life without being able to read or write.

I would think, though, that it would be a bit like being hard of hearing and mute. Hard of hearing because you wouldn't always even know what you were missing since you couldn't read it. And mute because you wouldn't have any other way to communicate. You couldn't write legal documents, you couldn't read a bedtime story to your little boy.

So, if I became independently wealthy today, I'd spend my time writing stories for everyone to read (children's stories, adult fiction, non-fiction, anything) and then teaching others to read them. Not because I want to be famous (though that would be awesome) but because I want to share the world inside my head with others.

I guess this is a dream I could pursue without being independently wealthy, but money always helps.

Here it comes! 3 days away from NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)! This is my 4th year of trying to write 50,000 words in one month. I have never done it before, but I'm feelin' lucky this year. Or at least determined.  2013 was the year that I finally made it all the way through Lent with my discipline of blogging a prayer from Writing to God  by Rachel Hackenberg every day. Tea for Two and Then Some

On May 3 (yes, I'm behind, lol) I went to a tea with...well, let's just say, some of my female relatives. There were too many to name them all. We had a blast! The teas are held about four times a year and it's a great way to spend some time together in a special way.  I've always been into tea parties and tea time rituals. This is a very casual feeling tea, though we do dress up a bit, and the food is always amazing. Check out the menu for yourself: I need to find a recipe for that soup, oh my goodness. Yeah, I let Lent slip on in again without starting my Writing to God and I never finished last year. But here I am again, attempting another year of Lenten practice. Better late than never?
